Lips are an integral part of your face. Some are thin and some are thick but globally people spend money to enhance their lip whether it be to change the colour o condition. This blog post is going to be all about how I think you can best spend your money in order to get luscious lips.
The focus of this post is going to be predominantly on lipsticks and lip liners but I might do a post on lip care in the future!
I’ll mention it now before you start to see a trend. I tend not to be particularly adventurous with my lipsticks and instead stick to neutral colours as I feel they best suit my skin tone.
Academy of Colour- Rose
This is definitely the most affordable of the lipsticks I’m going to be talking about, at £2.99 it is a steal. I picked this set up from Morrisons at Christmas time in the seasonal aisle after I had seen a fellow blogger review it. The set comes with a matte lipstick and a lip liner. Both are of a really creamy consistency and aren’t too drying on the lips. The lipstick and liner suit each other really well which I often have trouble with when buying lipstick sets. You can also wear them on their own with no trouble so you are getting your money’s worth!
I’m lead to believe that you can pick these up in Debenhams every now and then but I’m not 100%. They work really well as gifts, I got these for my friends for Christmas and they were a big hit. For the price they feel very high quality.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream- Stockholm
This lipstick has been one of my long time favourites this is actually my second tube! And let me tell you, it didn’t take me long to finish the first pot its almost addictive. It feels lovely on my lips and isn’t drying whatsoever. Its a cream so doesn’t crack or dry down properly but is still very much matte and opaque. The colour makes blue eyes really pop which is great and gives the appearance of whiter teeth. It is very reasonably priced too at only £4 something. NYX are a very reputable brand in both the UK and US. I haven’t tried any of their other products but I can’t wait to if the quality of their products are just as good! I have been desperate to try this lipstick in the shade Zurich but every time I got buy it, it’s sold out 🙁
Bourjois Rouge Edition- Number 19
This lipstick is one of my favourite lipsticks, its very moisturising on the lips and has an almost glossy finish. The shade doesn’t 100% stick to the nude and neutral theme. It is more of a peachy orange, I’m obsessed with orange lipsticks but thats a whole different story! I would say this is a good lipstick for someone who wants to start wearing orange lipstick. The scent is gorgeous and although I know you aren’t supposed to eat lipstick it tastes really nice. We’ve all done it, right? The one downside of this lipstick is that it sticks quite heavily to dry patches on your lips so I would just recommend exfoliating your lips first so they don’t look too patchy. For a glossy lipstick is does have a long wear time and you don’t have to reapply constantly.
Nars- Hot Voodoo
This was my first high end lipstick purchase and I certainly don’t regret it! I picked this one up from TK Maxx which knocked a few pounds off the price tag. Little side note, if you are thinking of splurging on an item check TK Maxx they have a large selection of high end beauty products and also handbags. I don’t think it takes a genius to tell that I’m a TK Maxx addict. Anyway, this lipstick is kind of metallic and gives the lips a nice glittery sheen which I don’t get from any other lipsticks. The wear length on this lipstick is amazing. Ok that’s an over exaggeration, I would say you can wear this for like up to 8 hours without needing to touch up. I wear this to work all the time and I tend to be rushed off my feet and it never fails me!
